The CGS 9 L X-Fog WA9XF-B is a professional water-based fire extinguisher designed for effective suppression of Class A fires involving solid combustible materials such as wood, paper, textiles, furniture and stored goods. With a 55A efficiency rating, it provides high extinguishing performance while offering a PFAS- and surfactant-free alternative to traditional foam extinguishers.
The extinguisher uses X-Fog, a specially developed water-based extinguishing agent that combines rapid cooling with effective penetration into burning materials. The agent can penetrate beneath the surface of the material, helping to cool residual heat and reduce the risk of re-ignition after the visible flames have been extinguished.
X-Fog provides up to four times the extinguishing performance of water in Class A fires. Its rapid temperature reduction can also help limit the development of combustible and toxic fire gases during the early stages of a fire, contributing to a safer environment for the person operating the extinguisher.
The 9-litre capacity provides extended discharge compared with smaller portable extinguishers. The WA9XF-B has a discharge time of approximately 50 seconds and a throw range of 4–5 metres, allowing the user to maintain a practical distance from the fire during operation.
The extinguisher can be used on electrical installations up to 1,000 V, provided a minimum safety distance of 1 metre is maintained. This makes it suitable for environments where electrical equipment is present alongside Class A fire risks.
The X-Fog agent is PFAS-free and surfactant-free, providing a more environmentally conscious alternative to conventional foam extinguishing agents. The CGS WA9XF-B features a robust steel cylinder, stainless-steel components in the valve and handle for improved corrosion resistance, and nitrogen (N₂) as the propellant. The extinguisher operates at 15 bar and is designed for an operating temperature range of +5 °C to +60 °C.
Importantly for maritime applications, the CGS WA9XF-B is Wheelmark approved, meaning it is approved for use aboard vessels under the applicable marine equipment requirements. It also complies with EN3-7 and carries CE marking.
