The Ocenco M-20.2 is a compact and lightweight self-contained Emergency Escape Breathing Device (EEBD) designed to provide respiratory protection during emergency evacuation from toxic, contaminated or oxygen-deficient atmospheres. It is particularly suited to maritime, offshore and industrial environments where personnel may need to escape quickly from a hazardous atmosphere.
The M-20.2 uses a self-contained, closed-circuit breathing system that provides the wearer with a supply of oxygen without relying on the surrounding atmosphere. The compressed-oxygen delivery system activates automatically when the device is removed from its clear protective case, helping to minimise the time required to deploy the equipment during an emergency.
A demand regulator allows the user to inhale immediately once the device has been correctly donned. The system can provide up to 100 litres of oxygen flow during high work rates, helping support the wearer during physically demanding escape situations.
Speed of deployment is a key feature of the M-20.2. The device can be donned in less than 10 seconds, making it suitable for emergency situations where rapid evacuation is critical. The clear storage case also allows crew members to visually check the operational readiness of the device without opening the package.
The M-20.2 provides 15 minutes of breathing duration when CE marked and 10 minutes when NIOSH approved. This duration is intended for emergency escape rather than prolonged work in a contaminated atmosphere. The device should therefore be considered an escape breathing apparatus, not a general-purpose SCBA.
The unit is compact and lightweight, weighing approximately 1.0 kg when donned. It can be worn on a belt or stored in a designated location, making it practical for installation at emergency escape points, accommodation areas, machinery spaces and other locations where rapid access may be required.
The M-20.2 has a service life of up to 15 years and requires visual inspection. Ocenco recommends annual inspection for stored units and daily inspection for deployed units.
Importantly for maritime applications, the M-20.2 carries MED Wheelmark approval and complies with CE/EN 13794 requirements.
