Honeywell GasAlertMicroClip X3 4-gas detector

The Honeywell GasAlertMicroClip X3 is a compact 4-gas detector for simultaneous monitoring of combustible gases (LEL), oxygen (O₂), hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) and carbon monoxide (CO). It offers one-button operation, real-time LCD readings, audible, visual and vibrating alarms, IP68 protection and approximately 18 hours of rechargeable battery life. The X3 is ATEX, IECEx, CE and CSA certified, but is NOT SOLAS/MED approved.

The Honeywell GasAlertMicroClip X3 is a professional, compact and lightweight 4-gas portable detector designed to continuously monitor four important atmospheric hazards: combustible gases and vapours (LEL), oxygen (O₂), hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) and carbon monoxide (CO). By combining four sensors in a single instrument, the GasAlertMicroClip X3 provides comprehensive personal gas monitoring for industrial, confined-space and hazardous-area applications.

The detector measures combustible gases from 0–100% LEL, oxygen from 0–30.0% by volume, hydrogen sulphide from 0–100 ppm, and carbon monoxide from 0–500 ppm. Standard sensor resolutions are 1% LEL, 0.1% O₂, 1 ppm H₂S and 1 ppm CO. Alarm setpoints can be adjusted according to the requirements of the application.

The GasAlertMicroClip X3 is designed for simple and reliable operation. Its one-button interface reduces the amount of training required, while the LCD provides real-time gas concentration readings. When an alarm condition is detected, the instrument provides audible, visual and vibrating alarms, with a 95 dB audible alarm, ensuring the wearer receives a clear warning even in demanding working environments.

Continuous monitoring and safety features

The X3 continuously checks the condition of its sensors, battery and internal circuitry. On start-up, the detector performs checks of the audible and visual alarms as well as the sensor and battery status.

Honeywell’s IntelliFlash™ indicator provides a visual confirmation that the detector has passed its required bump test and is operating correctly. This allows users to quickly identify whether the instrument is ready for use.

The detector also supports a range of configurable functions, including:

  • Automatic zeroing on start-up
  • Automatic oxygen calibration on start-up
  • User-adjustable alarm setpoints
  • Low, high, TWA and STEL alarms
  • Latching alarms
  • Calibration lock
  • Confidence beep
  • Configurable bump-test intervals
  • Forced bump testing when overdue
  • Configurable combustible-gas measurement
  • Stealth mode and safe-display options

These features allow the detector to be integrated into a structured gas detection and safety programme.

Long-life O₂ sensor

One of the major advantages of the GasAlertMicroClip X3 compared with the older MicroClip XL is its long-life oxygen sensor. Honeywell designed the X3 with an oxygen sensor intended to operate for approximately five years, helping reduce sensor replacement requirements and maintenance costs over the life of the detector. The X3 also carries a three-year warranty covering the detector and sensors under the applicable warranty conditions.

Rechargeable battery

The GasAlertMicroClip X3 uses a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery and provides approximately 18 hours of typical operating time, with a recharge time of less than six hours.

Honeywell specifies a battery guarantee of at least 12 hours of runtime during the warranty period under normal operating temperatures, providing sufficient capacity for a typical working shift.

The detector operates in temperatures from approximately -20°C to +50°C, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial and outdoor applications. It weighs approximately 179 g and measures around 11.3 × 6.0 × 3.1 cm.

Robust IP68 construction

The GasAlertMicroClip X3 has an IP68 ingress protection rating, providing a high level of protection against dust and water ingress. Its compact design and integrated clip make it suitable for wearing on a belt, workwear or other personal protective equipment while working.

Calibration, bump testing and data management

The GasAlertMicroClip X3 is compatible with Honeywell’s MicroDock II automatic test and calibration system. This allows organisations to simplify routine bump testing and calibration when managing multiple detectors.

The system can also be used with Fleet Manager II software for instrument management, reporting and record keeping. These functions can help companies maintain consistent testing and maintenance procedures across their gas detector fleet.

Approvals & certifications

The Honeywell GasAlertMicroClip X3 carries recognised hazardous-area certifications, including:

  • ATEX: II 1 G, Ex ia IIC T4 Ga
  • IECEx: Ex ia IIC T4 Ga
  • CE: European Conformity
  • CSA: Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B, C & D
  • KTL: Certification applicable to the X3
  • IP68: Dust and water protection

⚠️ SOLAS / MED approval

This product is NOT SOLAS/MED approved.

This is especially important for your marine customers. ATEX, IECEx, CE and CSA certifications are not the same as SOLAS/MED approval. A detector can be fully certified for hazardous-area use while still not being approved under the Marine Equipment Directive for SOLAS applications.

For this reason, the GasAlertMicroClip X3 should not be selected where SOLAS/MED approval is specifically required. Customers purchasing portable gas detection equipment for vessels should verify the requirements of the vessel, flag state, classification society and applicable regulations before selecting this model.

The Honeywell GasAlertMicroClip X3 4-Gas is therefore a professional, durable and cost-effective solution for simultaneous monitoring of LEL, O₂, H₂S and CO, particularly where long-term use, rechargeable operation and low maintenance are important.

It is suitable for industrial, hazardous-area and certain marine applications where SOLAS/MED approval is not a requirement. For vessels or applications requiring SOLAS/MED-approved portable gas detection, customers should select a suitable product from your SOLAS Approved Gas Detection category.
